Vivo, which is getting ready to debut the series X90, which also includes a model BESS and of the re-entrant Pro Plus, is without a doubt one of the brands that has worked well in smartphones, especially on the high range side. Will the new range be able to make an impact on the price we see at the exit while simultaneously trying to establish itself as a concentrate of high quality features?
vivo X90, X90 Pro, and X90 Pro +: what is currently known about them
Design and display
The X90 series should be designed in a way that complements the iQOO 10 series and the X80 range from earlier. As a result, the bumper stands out on a plate printed on the body just in the iQOO design, while a porthole houses the camera sensors.
A few days after the launch, new real pictures of the vivo X90's base model as well as new visual representations of the Pro Plus version have surfaced online. It is confirmed that the porthole photography module contained a quad camera and a periscope telephoto lens. The extremely intriguing raised stripe directly beneath the camera is a jewel that calls to mind Google's Pixel line. The most recent reports also include a cover with a leather texture and a sophisticated crimson hue.
The gadgets come in three color variations for the X90 and two for its older brother Pro+. The base model will be offered in light blue, black, and light blue, while two distinct X90 Pro Plus models in black and red will be introduced.
Moving on to the display, we do not yet know its diagonals through leaks, but we do have information on the technology employed, which is BOE Q9 for the X90 and X90 Pro while Samsung E6 da 6.78 is planned for the Pro Plus. In light of this, let's say that the top model would feature a 2K always AMOLED display while the first two have a 1.5K AMOLED resolution.
Since everyone would have a 120 Hz refresh rate, the difference would then be in the integration of LTPO technology, which would only be available in the most powerful displays. It's interesting how PWM dimming operates at high frequencies, starting at 1.440 Hz for the third and 2.160 Hz for the first two.
Features and technical specifications
Regarding the new vivo range's technological characteristics, the Dimensions 9200 should be used to power both the base X90 and X90 Pro variants. The latest MediaTek SoC will be hosted by the series, the same business has announced.
Recent postings assert that the Pro + edition should use a Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chip and that MediaTek alternatives should not be present. The smartphone (signed V2227A) features a dubbed chipset Kalama, which is the next Qualcomm solution. This "confirmation" also appears to originate from GeekBench.
The RAM for the memory sector is split into 8 and 12 GB segments, with the first two using LPDDR5 technology and the top model using LPDDR5x. Beyond the 256/512 GB, the storage also undergoes technological improvements, with the X90 and X90 Pro having memory UFS 3.1 and the X90 Pro + having UFS 4.0.
When it comes to the battery, each of the three devices has a module with a capacity of 4.700 mAh, but the charging methods are different: the Pro + charges at 80W, whereas the base model and Pro receive 120W, which is comparable to OPPO's SuperVOOC technology. For the midrange and premium models, there is furthermore 50W wireless charging.
Camera
It never disappoints when it comes to intrigue, and the camera chapter of vivo is no exception. Starting with the most basic model, we have a triptych of 50 + 50 + 12 MP sensors, with the first sensor being recognizable as a Sony IMX 800 series, though its exact nature is still unknown; the second sensor would be a Sony IMX758, for the next-generation telephoto lens; and the third sensor would be a Sony IMX663, for the wide-angle lens.
With regard to the Pro model, the information is more clear: always a trio of 50 + 50 + 50 MP sensors with the primary 1 ′′ sensor, followed by the Sony IMX989 already seen on Xiaomi, as well as the IMX758 for the wide angle and another IMX758 let's imagine for a telephoto lens.
Last but not least, the X90 Pro +, which according to numerous rumors is known as the cameraphone of choice, includes the IMX989 as well as the wide-angle IMX598 from 48 MP, the portrait-oriented IMX758 from 50 MP, and the periscopial telephoto lens from 64MP OV64B with support for 3,5x optical zoom and 10x hybrid zoom. The selfie camera, which uses a 32 MP Samsung GD2 sensor, is the same for all three devices. Following that, everything between the optics and software is co-engineered with ZEISS.
The emphasis placed on the IMX758 portrait sensor is intriguing. Given that we have a 2x optical zoom and an opening of f/1.6 e OIS, making it the widest lens in its category to date, Sony's new product actually has very thick specifications.
